Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has moved to shut down speculation suggesting Arne Slot has lost the dressing room at Anfield, offering a firm defence of the head coach amid growing external pressure.

The Reds’ difficult 2025/26 campaign has seen widespread debate over the team’s form and direction under Slot, with results falling well below expectations following a dramatic downturn in consistency.

Despite that, senior players inside the squad have continued to publicly back the Dutch manager.

Szoboszlai, who has been one of Liverpool’s most reliable performers this season, made it clear that there is no internal breakdown between the squad and the coaching staff. Addressing the rumours directly, he insisted that unity remains intact inside the dressing room.

“That’s not a question at all. He’s our manager. And we are in his second season. In his first season, don’t forget, we won the Premier League. So no one lost faith in him from our side.”

He continued by stressing that external noise does not reflect the reality inside the club.

“Rumours come and go but he proved that he’s able to win the Premier League and we proved it as a team, as a staff, as a club that we are able to win the Premier League.”

Szoboszlai’s comments may just be media trained responses

The Hungarian’s comments arrive at a time when Liverpool have faced increasing scrutiny, with performances dipping sharply compared to their title-winning campaign under Slot the previous season.

Questions have been raised by sections of supporters and media outlets about whether the manager still holds full control of the squad.

However, Szoboszlai’s intervention suggests that, internally at least, there is still backing for the head coach. His remarks also highlight the belief within the squad that their previous success under Slot should not be overlooked despite the current struggles.

While Liverpool’s form has clearly been inconsistent, with criticism growing around tactical decisions and performances on the pitch, the message from key players remains consistent: the dressing room is still united behind the manager.

As the season moves towards its conclusion, attention will inevitably turn to whether Liverpool can stabilise results and restore confidence. But for now, at least according to Szoboszlai, talk of a fractured dressing room does not reflect reality at Anfield.
