Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United have made it clear to Hugo Larsson and his representatives that they want to sign him as a summer bidding war beckons.

The summer transfer window will be a curious one for Liverpool as they could enter into it having lost Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

That would be the worst-case scenario but if it does come to be, it will require Liverpool to act extremely ambitiously to recover.

Even if that doesn’t happen, it does seem as though Arne Slot will sign a new defensive midfielder in the summer although it’s unclear if this is to provide cover for Ryan Gravenberch or to replace him as the no.6.

According to a report from Caught Offside, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are all showing strong interest in Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson.

The three Premier League sides are the most advanced in the race to secure the 20-year-old’s services but Manchester City, Tottenham and Real Madrid are also keen on him.

Frankfurt value Larsson at around €60million (£50m) and Liverpool, along with Arsenal and United, have reportedly told the player’s representatives that they would be willing to spend big to complete his move to the Premier League.

No negotiations have been held yet with Frankfurt it’s still too early for that. Larsson’s desires are not clear yet so it will take time for any movement on this particular deal.

Frankfurt, however, are ready to sell the player if their valuation is met.

Liverpool should keep Ryan Gravenberch as a no.6 – he’s world-class

It still feels too early to call Ryan Gravenberch world class but he is consistently delivering world-class performances at the base of Liverpool’s swashbuckling midfield.

It was understandable that before the start of the season, there was a cacophony of calls for Liverpool to sign a world-class specialist no.6 only for Gravenberch to stroll into the position and dominate the Premier League and Champions League with seemingly zero issues.

Larsson is a fantastic player and would be a fine addition to Slot’s side but he is not as good as Gravenberch is proving to be. The Swede is 20 and Gravenberch is 22 so the two of them could provide the talent required for the Reds to lock that position down for years.
