When it comes to building a successful football club, it isn’t just about the players on the pitch, it’s also about the contracts behind the scenes.

For Liverpool, understanding who is tied down long-term, whose deals are running out, and which stars have just signed fresh extensions gives fans a clearer picture of where the squad is heading.

From Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk to new arrivals such as Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, every contract tells part of the story of Liverpool’s future.

Some players are secured until the next decade, while others face crucial decisions in the coming years.

In this guide, we break down every Liverpool FC player contract and when it expires, position by position, so you can see exactly how the Reds are planning for both the present and the years ahead.

The goalkeepers: A new era between the posts

Liverpool moved decisively in 2024 by signing Giorgi Mamardashvili, tying him down all the way until 2031. At 24, he’s been earmarked as the long-term successor to Alisson and one of Europe’s top emerging keepers.

But Alisson himself isn’t going anywhere just yet. The Brazilian is under contract until 2027, meaning Liverpool have one of the world’s best goalkeepers secured through his prime years. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool renew his terms or part ways.

New arrival Freddie Woodman has a shorter deal until 2026 (with a one-year option), while Hungarian youngster Ármin Pécsi has signed a five-year contract that keeps him at Anfield until 2030.

Central defence: Experience meets the future

The heart of Liverpool’s defence still revolves around Virgil van Dijk, who extended his stay until 2027. Now 34, his leadership remains as valuable as ever. Alongside him, Ibrahima Konaté is under contract until 2026, and Joe Gomez until 2027, giving the Reds solid depth in their core.

Liverpool have also invested heavily in youth. Giovanni Leoni, signed in 2025, is secured until 2031, while Rhys Williams remains tied down until 2026.

Adding Marc Guehi in January would add a lot of strength in depth for the future.

The full-backs: Transition underway

Liverpool’s famous full-back setup is entering a new phase. Andrew Robertson’s deal runs only until 2026, making his future one of the big questions for the next couple of years.

Meanwhile, the next generation is already here. Milos Kerkez signed in 2025 and is contracted until 2030, while Jeremie Frimpong (to 2030) and Conor Bradley (to 2029) give Liverpool strong, long-term options on both flanks.

Midfield: The rebuilt engine room

The midfield overhaul of 2024 and beyond is reflected in the contract list. Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are tied down until 2028, as is Ryan Gravenberch, giving Liverpool a trio of prime-age midfielders for the long term.

Curtis Jones is also secure until 2027, while Stefan Bajcetic signed an extension that takes him to the same year. Veteran Wataru Endo is locked in until 2027, which would take him through to age 35.

The youngest faces are Trey Nyoni, whose current deal only runs until 2026, and the marquee 2025 signing Florian Wirtz, secured until 2030.

The forwards: Big deals for big names

Up front, Liverpool have been busy securing the future. Cody Gakpo extended in 2025, running until 2030, while new signings Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitiké both signed huge long-term deals through to 2031.

Mohamed Salah is the most high-profile contract story. His April 2025 extension keeps him at Anfield until 2027, but questions will remain about whether he finishes his career at the club.

Federico Chiesa, brought in during 2024, is under contract until 2028, while young winger Rio Ngumoha is tied to 2026.

Contracts expiring soon: The key watch list

While many of Liverpool’s stars are secured for years to come, a few contracts are worth keeping an eye on:

  • Andrew Robertson (2026) – one of the shorter senior deals. Liverpool want to extend.
  • Freddie Woodman (2026) – short-term option.
  • Rhys Williams (2026) – decision point approaching.
  • Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha (2026) – young talents expected to be renewed.
  • Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk (2027) – extended, but approaching the twilight years.

2026 and 2027 look like the big years for contract decisions, especially for Robertson and Salah.

The long-term picture

Liverpool’s future spine is already in place. Mamardashvili, Leoni, Isak, and Ekitiké are tied down until 2031, while Gakpo, Kerkez, Frimpong, and Wirtz all have deals until 2030.

That strategy locks in the squad’s next generation and ensures Liverpool won’t lose their biggest prospects cheaply in the coming years.

Liverpool’s contract picture shows a clear plan: secure the best young talent on decade-long deals, while maintaining experienced leaders through 2026/2027.

The next big decisions will focus on the futures of Robertson, Szoboszlai and Gravenberch, but with so much of the squad already tied down until 2030 and beyond, the Reds look well-positioned for stability and competitiveness in the years ahead.
