Liverpool are highly unlikely to complete the signing of Barcelona superstar Pedri in the summer transfer window, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Reds supporters will be hoping for a busy summer in the transfer market, as Arne Slot comes in as the new manager and looks to make some significant signings to take the team forward.

One player who has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past month is Pedri, who remains arguably one of Europe’s most exciting young midfielders, having burst onto the scene as a teenager, already making 139 appearances for Barca.

Admittedly, nothing too concrete has emerged with regards to the Merseysiders snapping up the Spaniard, and speaking on his Daily Briefing for Caught Offside [via Give Me Sport], Romano shot down any notion of the transfer coming to fruition:

13 starts coming his way in La Liga this season, but he has still scored and assisted twice apiece in the competition, as well as averaging 1.4 key passes per game.

At 21 years of age, this is still only the start for Pedri, but Liverpool fans should accept that he won’t be moving to Anfield in the near future, or at all. Much of his career is likely to be at Barca, as he looks to emulate legendary figures such as Xavi and Andrea Iniesta, with his current deal at the Camp Nou not expiring until the summer of 2026.
