Liverpool are actively pursuing a new right-back ahead of the summer transfer window, with Trent Alexander-Arnold expected to leave the club.

While the move has yet to be confirmed publicly, Trent’s transfer to Real Madrid is reportedly a done deal behind the scenes. A recent claim from Marca suggested that the fullback made his mind to leave in late 2023.

With both Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley currently sidelined through injury, Arne Slot finds himself with limited options in a crucial area of the pitch. Curtis Jones deputised at right back against Everton and did a good job but it’s a good thing the title is all but wrapped up.

Bradley is anticipated to become Slot’s first-choice right-back once fit, but Liverpool are well aware of the need to add depth to the position.

The club is casting a wide net in their search and one name being seriously considered is Kiliann Sildillia of Freiburg.

Liverpool keeping close watch on Kiliann Sildillia

While Jeremie Frimpong has been heavily linked as a marquee replacement for Alexander-Arnold, Rousing the Kop **reports that Liverpool have yet to settle on a single standout target at right-back.

Instead, the Reds are evaluating multiple options, with Bailey confirming that Sildillia is among those being actively monitored.

“He’s an interesting player,” says the reporter. “French, athletic, six foot one. He’s a right-back attracting a lot of attention and Liverpool have looked at him.”

Bailey also points to the financial and tactical appeal of the 22-year-old.

“I think he ticks boxes for Liverpool. He’s had a couple of good seasons in the Bundesliga so he’s not completely unheralded. But we’re not talking Frimpong, £40-50m sort of thing. Not every Liverpool signing this summer is going to be in that price range.

“He’s only got a year left on his contract and he’s an interesting prospect,” Bailey adds. “Chelsea were looking at him as well and Man City like these big full-backs too, but I think he’s a different option for Liverpool.”
