Turkish giants Galatasaray have reportedly ended their pursuit of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, following meetings with the Brazilian’s agent over a potential summer move.
According to Fotomac, the Super Lig leaders had been in contact with Alisson’s representatives as they search for a long-term successor to veteran stopper Fernando Muslera, who is expected to leave the club this summer.
However, the discussions reportedly hit a wall after Alisson’s camp demanded a salary of €25 million per year – a figure far beyond what Galatasaray are willing to pay.
As a result, Gala are now shifting their focus toward other goalkeeping options, with Lyon’s Lucas Perri among the names being considered.
Adding to the intrigue, the Turkish outlet claims Alisson has received a €30 million offer from an unnamed Saudi club, which could test Liverpool’s resolve as the summer transfer window approaches.
Alisson still under contract, but uncertainty now creeping in
Despite speculation about his future, Alisson remains under contract at Liverpool until June 2027. The Reds also have Giorgi Mamardashvili arriving from Valencia this summer, following a loan-back clause agreed when he signed last year. The highly-rated Georgia international will compete for the No.1 shirt, potentially signaling the start of a long-term transition at Anfield.
Still, there’s no guarantee that Alisson will depart. The club has made no public statement about selling him, and there’s little indication from the player himself that he’s actively seeking an exit.
Alisson Becker: Still the best in the business
Regardless of what the future holds, Alisson Becker remains, without question, the best goalkeeper in the world.
His influence on Liverpool since arriving in 2018 has been nothing short of transformative.
Alisson has not only provided unmatched shot-stopping ability and composure under pressure but he’s also redefined what it means to be a modern goalkeeper.
His calmness in distribution, his reading of the game, and his match-winning saves have helped deliver every major trophy to Anfield under Jürgen Klopp.
As recently highlighted by the Premier League, Alisson leads the way among goalkeepers for save percentage, goals prevented, and clean sheets in big matches.
He consistently produces when it matters most – just ask any Liverpool fan who remembers that save against Napoli, the one-on-one stops in crucial title-deciding games, or even his unforgettable header against West Brom in 2021.
If this summer does mark the beginning of a new chapter in Liverpool’s goalkeeping department, Alisson’s legacy is already secure. And until any deal is done, he remains the gold standard – the safest hands in football.
