Liverpool-linked defender Givairo Read has reportedly confirmed that he is likely to leave Feyenoord this summer, as Arne Slot continues to assess options for a potential right-back reshuffle at Anfield.

The 19-year-old has been one of the most closely tracked young full-backs in Europe over the past year, with Liverpool long credited with strong interest following his rapid rise in Dutch football under the same coaching pathway that helped shape his early development.

Read’s comments and recent signals from his camp suggest a summer departure is now increasingly likely, with several clubs monitoring his situation ahead of the window.

“I certainly realised that [it might be his last game for Feyenoord],” he said.

“It is no longer a secret that clubs are watching me and that a move might be coming up in the summer. I don’t want to keep that a secret either.

“But I haven’t made a choice yet, so I’m still under contract with Feyenoord. It could very well have been my last home match, but I don’t want to say that too soon.”

Having broken into senior football at Feyenoord and impressed with his attacking output and maturity beyond his age, the right-back has built a profile that naturally attracts elite clubs looking for long-term defensive solutions.

Liverpool are among the sides credited with interest as they continue planning for the next phase of their squad evolution under Arne Slot.

Liverpool’s right-back planning taking shape

Right-back is one of the positions under review at Anfield, with Liverpool assessing how best to structure the role moving forward in Slot’s system.

The club are expected to explore both immediate competition and long-term succession options depending on how the market develops, with a focus on players comfortable in high-possession and high-pressing structures.

Read’s profile fits that direction, particularly his ability to push forward, contribute in build-up phases, and operate aggressively in transition.

Arne Slot’s familiarity with Read from his time in the Dutch system continues to be a notable factor in the wider conversation around a potential move.

The Liverpool head coach has already shown a preference for full-backs who can contribute technically as well as physically, with tactical flexibility a key requirement in his evolving setup at Anfield.

That makes Read a natural candidate for internal discussion as Liverpool refine their shortlist.
