Liverpool celebrated their 20th league title on Sunday with some truly memorable celebrations at Anfield, and now, Rio Ferdinand is beginning to worry about an era of dominance for the Reds.

Arne Slot will lift the Premier League trophy for the first time when Crystal Palace visit Anfield on the 25th of May, which will be the sixth trophy the Reds have won since 2019.

It’s the second league title for Liverpool in five years and with the likes of Arsenal and Man City below the required level, Slot has the chance to usher in a period of dominance on Merseyside.

With Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk set to stay for another two years, Liverpool have a huge chance to make some huge leaps with their recruitment this summer.

If Slot can recruit in all the right areas, Liverpool will be confident of their chances of defending their league title.

Liverpool are in such a strong position that Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand is worried his arch-rivals will continue to dominate in England.

Rio Ferdinand says Liverpool cannot sign one player otherwise they could take over

Speaking on his podcast, Ferdinand said that Liverpool cannot be allowed to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak and hopes that someone else – like Real Madrid – signs him.

I think he lives in that ilk, he has the impact like that if he goes to Liverpool,” Ferdinand said.

His co-host asked: “I think he goes there though Rio I’m looking at it, where else is he going to go?

I think he could go to Madrid or something like that, I think he should go to Madrid, he can’t go to Liverpool, he can’t go to Liverpool. I don’t want to see this type of dominance,” Ferdinand said.

Ferdinand should be safe – A LOT has to change for Liverpool to sign Isak

Multiple reports have already confirmed that Alexander Isak is a target for Liverpool but the Reds will not even engage in talks with Newcastle United unless it’s clear they will not be demanding an unrealistic sum of money for the 25-year-old.

This season. Isak has 26 goals and six assists for Newscastle and should they end the season in a Champions League spot, they will have a big thank you to pay to Isak.

For Liverpool, he is potentially the perfect player to take their attack to the next level.

Darwin Nunez is likely to leave this summer and with either Cody Gakpo or Luis Diaz on the left wing and Mohamed Salah on the right flank, deploying Isak as the no.9 would give Arne Slot a terrifying attacking lineup for the 2025/26 season.
