Mohamed Salah’s explosive interview after the 3-3 draw with Leeds United could set the stage for a shock January transfer away from Anfield.

Little over eight months ago, Salah signed a club-record £485,000 per week contract, which, if not cut short, is supposed to run until July 2027.

Now, after he revealed his relationship with Arne Slot has all but evaporated, the Egyptian has opened the door to leaving the club in January if things don’t improve rapidly.

The 33-year-old scored and assisted 47 goals last season and now reports that he is being scapegoated for Liverpool’s shocking form this season. If true, it’s disgraceful given how he almost singlehandedly dragged Liverpool to a 20th league title last season.

Very few players can claim to have done as much for their club as Salah has done for Liverpool since 2017.

How much could Liverpool sell Mohamed Salah for in the January transfer window?

It’s incredulous that this is even a question that needs answering but it seems as though Liverpool have dropped the ball so severely that Salah would not stand in the club’s way if they decided to cash in now.

After dragging contract talks out, Liverpool, in many fans’ eyes, would be betraying Salah if they sold him after the way he has been treated in recent weeks.

The Egyptian is heading to AFCON in Ghana soon and it may be that he has already played his last game in Liverpool Red if this comes to pass.

A report from Caught Offside reports that Liverpool could recoup around “€80–100 million, including bonuses and a sell-on clause.”

That would be the equivalent of £70m to £87m.

It’s almost unbelievable that this is real

Salah has been the best attacker Liverpool have had since Luis Suarez and even then, he has vastly outperformed the Uruguayan in both goals and assists, and certainly in silverware.

To date, Salah has scored 250 goals for the club with another 116 assists to boot.

Not to mention two Premier League titles, a Champions League winners’ medal and two domestic cups.

To end his time at the club in this manner would be dishonourable and a stain on what has otherwise been the best transfer in the club’s history.
