What can be ruled out is that De Bruyne will not be moving to Saudi Arabia or America but will remain in either the Premier League or move to another top league in Europe.
He ultimately wants to remain at the top level but the report also states that his grandfather’s affection for Liverpool is a factor as is the simplicity of simply commuting further – by driving to Merseyside – and therefore not needing to displace his family altogether.
Of course, you also have that famous old video of De Bruyne saying as an 11-year-old kid that his favourite club and player were Liverpool and Steven Gerrard.
He told the camera: “My favourite club is Liverpool and my favourite player is Michael Owen, and I would like to play there one day.”
