Ibrahima Konate has been linked with a move to PSG or Real Madrid and made a comment about interest from big clubs being “flattering” which raised some alarm bells but the French defender now seems to have hinted that he’s not thinking about any club except Liverpool.

On Sunday, Ibrahima Konate had a very forgettable game for Liverpool as he was booked once and deserved to be booked for a second time when he crashed into Matheus Cunha after the Brazilian had played the ball.

Arne Slot wisely withdrew him for Jarell Quansah, who made a goal-saving interception late in the second half. Some online have suggested that, like Trent Alexander-Arnold, he is distracted by transfer interest from PSG and Real Madrid. It was likely just a poor game given the whole team, bar Salah, struggled impress.

But after comments made to French network Telefoot, reported by Get Football News France, it seemed possible. He is reportedly being courted by PSG and Madrid.

“To hear big clubs like that are showing interest in me is very flattering!,” Konate said. “Now I’m focussing on this season, giving it my all and I’ll let my agents take care of the rest.”

Fresh Konate quotes suggest the Frenchman envisages a long Liverpool future

Konate sat down with LFCTV as part of their roundtable series and spoke eloquently about Jurgen Klopp and his future with the club.

“I remember before signing for Liverpool, I spoke with Jurgen [Klopp],” he said. “He told me, ‘The day when you sign, you will see your life will change completely.’

“I was like, ‘Yes, OK, I can trust you.’ But I didn’t expect like that…”

“Everywhere when I travel in the world, we have so many fans everywhere. This changed everything for me.

“Honestly, to be in this club, this means a lot of things because I’m a part of this story, of this club, and I really hope this season and the seasons of the future we will do great things as well.”

Konate doesn’t sound like he’s going anywhere

The tail-end of that quote would suggest that Konate isn’t considering leaving Liverpool anytime soon.

That would please most supporters given how talented the Parisian is. His luck with injuries has been less enjoyable but all the same, Liverpool would do well to hang onto such a massive talent in the face of interest from Real Madrid, the biggest club in the world, and PSG, his hometown club.
