Liverpool are expected to be active in the summer transfer window, and one of the names heavily linked with a move to Anfield is Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.

The Hungarian left-back has enjoyed a standout season in the Premier League, playing a crucial role in Bournemouth’s push for a top-half finish.

His performances have drawn interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United.

Now, former England striker Gary Lineker has voiced his support for a move to Anfield, suggesting that Liverpool would be an ideal destination for the 21-year-old.

Liverpool see Kerkez as Andy Robertson’s successor

With Andy Robertson facing recurring injury issues and turning 31 next year, Liverpool are keen to strengthen their left-back position. Kostas Tsimikas has provided backup, but Arne Slot is expected to refresh the squad, and Kerkez has emerged as a prime candidate.

Kerkez, who arrived in England in 2023, has quickly adapted to the demands of the Premier League.

His attacking contributions, defensive solidity, and high-energy playing style make him a strong fit for Liverpool’s high-intensity system. So far this season, he has helped Bournemouth climb to eighth in the table, just a few points off the Champions League spots.

Manchester United are also interested in the Hungarian international due to Luke Shaw’s continued injury struggles. However, Liverpool’s long-term planning and Champions League ambitions could give them an advantage in the race for his signature.

Lineker: “A move to Liverpool makes sense”

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast after Bournemouth’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham, where Kerkez produced a stunning assist, Lineker praised the young defender and backed his potential move to Anfield.

“They came back, surprisingly so I thought, because I didn’t see that coming. Bournemouth press so well, don’t they?,” Lineker said.

“The run and the ball from Kerkez as well! He’s really good. I think they might struggle to keep him at Bournemouth.

“I saw the links with Liverpool, and that makes sense. It makes sense.”

Liverpool’s left-back plans for next season

Liverpool are expected to reinforce multiple positions this summer, with left-back being a priority.

While Bournemouth will likely demand a significant fee, Kerkez’s rapid development and Premier League experience make him a smart investment.

With growing interest from top clubs, Liverpool may need to move quickly if they want to secure his signature.
