Liverpool and Real Madrid are planning talks regarding the potential transfer of Trent Alexander-Arnold on Wednesday, according to a new claim.
The future of the 26-year-old is still up in the air, with the Reds’ vice-captain doing little to dispel rumours surrounding him joining the reigning Champions League holders in 2025.
Alexander-Arnold may be a boyhood Liverpool supporter, but there is concern among the fanbase that he may find the lure of Madrid too great to turn down, having won all there is to win at Anfield.
According to Marca journalist Jose Felix Diaz, who has close ties to the La Liga giants, the Reds and Madrid have planned a meeting on Wednesday lunchtime, prior to the Champions League clash later in the day.
“I believe I can. I want to be the first full-back to ever do it. It’s only the morning after you retire that you’re able to look in the mirror and say, ‘I gave it everything I got’.
“It doesn’t matter how many trophies you win, or how many medals you’ve got. It matters what you give to the game and if you reach your full potential.”
Liverpool must do all they can to retain Alexander-Arnold’s services and persuade him to sign an extension, however, considering his peak years are likely about to arrive.
Letting him leave in January shouldn’t even be entertained, though, and it would be strange if he wanted to leave midway through a potentially Premier League title-winning season.
