Journalist Graeme Bailey has dropped a big Liverpool transfer update regarding the Reds’ business between now and the end of the summer transfer window.

The Premier League champions have completed the signing of Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, in the latest statement of intent by the club.

The 23-year-old joins the likes of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez at Liverpool, as Arne Slot looks to take his side up another level in 2025/26, defending their league trophy in the process.

There is still plenty of time for the Reds to make more signings, however, not to mention seal exits for several players, from Luis Diaz to Darwin Nunez.

Should both South Americans leave Liverpool this summer, the need for at least one new face in attack will be great, with Real Madrid star Rodrygo mentioned as an exciting target.

Now, The Boot Room‘s Bailey has claimed that the Reds will look to sign another attacker after Ekitike, with their summer business far from done:

“Liverpool are delighted with this. Richard Hughes, I am told, liked him when he was at Reims and even had a look at him back then before Newcastle and then Paris Saint-Germain got involved. Liverpool think that Ekitike can deliver now but they feel his ceiling is as high as any striker in Europe. This is just the next part of their attacking jigsaw, this won’t be their last forward addition this summer.”

Exactly what Liverpool fans want to hear

This will be music to the ears of Liverpool supporters, during what has been one of the most productive summer windows in many years at Anfield.

It would be a surprise if Diaz and Nunez were still Reds players come September, but if they could sign Rodrygo instead, he could be another huge attacking addition alongside Wirtz and Ekitike.

Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon and Lyon’s Malick Fofana are also among the names mentioned to come in, but the Brazilian has to be considered the leading option.

In fact, if Federico Chiesa departs as well, which appears to be on the cards, it could even be that Liverpool look to add two attackers before the window slams shut.
