Alexis Mac Allister has struggled for form this season and reliable journalist Sam Wallace has made a key claim about his future at Liverpool.

The Argentine has been a fantastic signing for the Reds since arriving from Brighton in 2023, adding so much quality and fight to the midfield.

Mac Allister is one of many Liverpool players who have struggled this season, however, with the World Cup winner cutting a leggy figure and not managing to have his usual influence on a weekly basis.

Thankfully, he did show signs of returning to form in Sunday’s 2-0 win away to West Ham in the Premier League, but there is still plenty of work to do.

Mac Allister has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the past, along with other Reds teammates, but his father has played down the rumour recently:

“I read the rumours, but that’s all they were. There was no contact. In any case, it’s always nice when my son is linked with the biggest clubs in the world.

“Real Madrid is a very big club, but so is Liverpool, and we must be responsible and respect the institution he belongs to and that believed in him. I have to be prudent. He plays for Liverpool now. In the future, if the opportunity arises and it’s appropriate, he’ll have to make his own decisions.”

Now, Wallace has taken to The Telegraph to state that Mac Allister “is having a poor season and yet the club would not consider selling him”, using him as a comparison to Arne Slot and his future at Anfield.

Mac Allister still a vital player for Liverpool

Form is temporary and class is permanent, and Liverpool shouldn’t even be entertaining the idea of moving Mac Allister on at this point in his career.

He is still only 26, which can be forgotten because he arguably cuts a more mature figure, and it is surely only a matter of time before his best form returns.

When Mac Allister plays well, so do Liverpool, as was the case against West Ham as the game went on, and he can continue to be a huge part of the midfield for years to come, knitting things together and putting his winning mentality to good use.
