Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hasn’t completely ruled out the idea of returning to the club, having provided an update on his managerial future.

The German was a transformation figure at Anfield between 2015 and 2024, winning the Champions League and Premier League, among many other trophies.

Since leaving Liverpool, Klopp has returned to management, instead taking up a role of global head of soccer at Red Bull, showing no great desire to move on.

But speaking to BILD [via This Is Anfield], Klopp didn’t say he would return to Liverpool, but at the same time, he didn’t rule it out completely.

“I’ve said that a thousand times already, but of course I’m not thinking about it at all right now. There’s no reason to, thankfully. And as for the future, I’m not quite finished as a coach yet. So who knows what might come up in the next few years, but there are absolutely no plans in that regard.”

When discussing links to other clubs away from his Red Bull job, Klopp shot them down, adding:  “The same idiots wrote that. The less someone knows about football, the more they think I should be at the various locations [where Red Bull clubs are based] even more often than I am.

“Your colleague from the Salzburger Nachrichten who wrote that has absolutely no clue. I’m not thinking of throwing in the towel.”

Will Jurgen Klopp ever return to Liverpool?

It is worth stressing that Klopp is highly unlikely to have a second stint as Liverpool manager, even though it is something that so many supporters would love to see.

He is likely to feel that his time with the Reds has been and gone, not wanting to potentially affect his legacy after such a legendary spell first time around.

Instead, Klopp may see managing the Germany national team as his dream job to end his managerial career eventually, with those high up surely seeing him as a wonderful appointment, given his talent and charisma.

Xabi Alonso still feels like the favourite to replace Slot, if he is relieved of his duties, but as mentioned, few Reds fans would say no to Klopp returning.
