Kostas Tsimikas looks set to leave Liverpool after five years at Anfield as Arne Slot increases the quality in the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.

It’s a pity that Tsimikas seemingly hasn’t made the grade at Anfield in Arne Slot’s eyes. He has struggled to provide enough protection on the left flank while not necessarily being an increidble outlet in attack either.

The Reds, however, will say goodbye to the ‘Greek Scouser’ with fondness after a memorable career at Anfield. His greatest memory will likely be scoring the winning penalty in the 2024 Carabao Cup final.

After this season Tsimikas’ honours at Liverpool include the Premier League, the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. A very impressive haul for five years at the club in an era where Manchester City dominated despite Liverpool taking them close on occasion.

Now, though, his remaining time at the club can be counted in weeks and days, according to reports.

Liverpool preparing to sell Kostas Tsimikas as left-back targert as No.1 target is identified

According to Football Insider, “Liverpool are ready to sell long-serving left-back Kostas Tsimikas this summer.”  It follows a claim from Sky Sports earlier this week that said Liverpool are “expected to move Tsimikas on” as they search for a replacement.

FI go on to say that Liverpool have “decided Tsimikas is not suitable to play in the role long-term with Robertson’s influence waning”. Slot will sign a new player that will compete with the Scotsman before replacing him as the starting left-back long term.

With two years remaining on his deal, Liverpool will be able to secure a tidy fee for a very good player even if he isn’t the player that can take the Reds to an elite place defensively.

Liverpool have already identified their No.1 target as Milos Kerkez creeps closer and closer to a move to Anfield

According to The Telegraph‘s John Percy on X, Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez is Liverpool’s “No.1 target” after Ian Wright said last week that he reckons a deal to sign the Hungarian is all but done.

Percy said: “New – Wolves to offer £50m rated Rayan Ait-Nouri a new contract. Big part of Vitor Pereira’s plans for next season. Liverpool have watched him frequently but Milos Kerkez is No 1 target in the position.”

While not concrete evidence, Kerkez has also been leaving cryptic comments on social media, including one this week in reply to none other than Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.

It would also make a lot of sense if having his compatriot and national team buddy Szoboszlai at Anfield is a big reason why Liverpool is a move that appeals to him.
