Despite talk of Arsenal preparing a bid for Rodrygo, Liverpool may actually still have the upperhand on the Gunners as the Reds are set for a major cash injection.
This summer transfer window has defied all logic from a Liverpool perspective after the club agreed and completed a £116m package deal to sign Florian Wirtz.
The former Bayer Leverkusen star has already improved Arne Slot’s starting XI drastically so too does the arrival of Milos Kerkez at left back and Jeremie Frimpong at right back.
Add the expected arrival of Hugo Ekitike to the side and Liverpool are really only a centre-back away from having an almost perfect squad.
Yet, with talk circulating that Liverpool are seriously interested in signing Rodrygo and have already held preliminary talks to scope out how best to proceed with a potential transfer, the Reds could take their team into the stratosphere.
A front four of Rodrygo, Ekitike, Salah with Wirtz pulling the strings is a truly frightening prospect – for the rest of the Premier League and Europe, that is.
Luis Diaz transfer to Bayern Munich could pave the way for Liverpool to sign Rodrygo without much extra investment

If Liverpool do indeed receive their £72.5m asking price, they won’t have to spend much of their own cash to complete a deal with Real Madrid for Rodrygo – he is valued somewhere over £87m (€100m).
Spanish journalist Anton Meana, via El Larguero, reports that Liverpool will be well-placed to sign Rodrygo if they sell Diaz while it’s “practically impossible” for Arsenal to sign the Brazilian.
“Today, Pablo Montano, the correspondent for SER TV in the UK, reported from England that the Luis Diaz deal to Bayern Munich is well underway and that Liverpool could transfer Luis Diaz for a lot of money,” Meana said.
“And, at that time, they would enter the bidding for Rodrygo, seeing how the market is in England, but they’re paying €80million for several players, and it wouldn’t be surprising if a similar amount was paid for Rodrygo.
“Real Madrid wasn’t the player to be well-positioned and, if he’s ultimately going to leave, to have a good offer from Liverpool or Chelsea or a team that can afford to pay him.
“As we said during the week, the Arsenal deal is practically impossible.”
