Liverpool are set to sign Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez with a medical set for the next few days as FSG green light summer spending to break the £200m barrier.
Arne Slot is living the dream, having won the Premier League in his first season with his summer signings so far guaranteeing his side will begin the season as favourites to win the title.
One of the main problems with Liverpool’s side that did come under scrutiny this season is the lack of quality at left-back.
Andy Robertson is both a Liverpool and Premier League legend but he has been struggling to match the frenetic demands of the English top flight for some time.
Similarly, Kostas Tsimikas is often erratic and like Robbo has become over the last 18 months, the ‘Greek Scouser’ is error-prone and a liability at times on Virgil van Dijk’s flank.
Kerkez is a steal and the perfect replacement for Robbo and Tsimikas in the long term and the short term.
Coming off a season where he helped Bournemouth achieve a ninth-place finish for which he was recognised as the best left-back in the league, it’s impressing that Liverpool have managed to recruit him.
Liverpool reach agreement to sign Milos Kerkez for £40m with medical set to take place soon
The exact day and time of Kerkez’s medical is not known, of coure, but reports in the British press today suggest Liverpool have agreed terms with Bournemouth for a fee in the region of £40m and soon announce his move to the fans.
Fabrizio Romano reports the details: “Milos Kerkez to Liverpool, here we go!
“Plan from May confirmed as it’s all agreed between clubs. £40m transfer fee, long term deal and Kerkez set for medical in the upcoming days. Kerkez to Liverpool, never in doubt.”

According to the the Athletic, FSG have now green lit over £200m on transfers already this summer which is incredible. With talk of a move for Alexander Isak, the Reds are threatening to invest an incredible amount on incomings which suggests there will be a lot of sales to come in the next month.
Any further signings and Liverpool will enter a realm unlike anything we’ve seen from them
Spending £116m on Florian Wirtz (£100m up front + add-ons) is already a groundbreak move from the Reds but the most Liverpool had ever spent in a season until this year was the £160m they spent in 2018. They had also spent £75m in the January window of the same year after Philippe Coutinho was sold t0 Barcelona for £142,.
However, that lavish spending was justified by the huge income from Coutinho’s sale. This summer is certainly an anomaly even if Liverpool could still generate well over £100m in sales.
But, if the rumours are correct and Liverpool do want a top centre forward and a centre-back after already committing to £200m+ in transfer fees, it remains to be seen how signing Isak is at all realistic.
Exciting times regardless of what happens from here on out.
