Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has provided a key update on his future at Anfield, amid rumours linking him with a move away from the club.
The 26-year-old has been a fantastic signing ever since he joined the Reds from Brighton back in the summer of 2023, during a period that also saw Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai arrive.
Mac Allister has been such an important player for both Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot, and given his age, there is no reason why he can’t be a legendary midfield figure by the time he eventually leaves.
Some claims have suggested that Real Madrid are interested in signing the Argentina international, looking to get him as well as Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Speaking to TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edu [via Sport Witness], however, Mac Allister said he is happy at Liverpool, cooling the exit rumours:
“I read the rumours and the news reaches me, but the important thing is the present. No matter how much the club loves me, if I play poorly this weekend, they’ll lose interest. I’m fine at Liverpool and I don’t have any need. So, I have a lot of respect for the club, and I don’t think it’s necessary to talk about other clubs.
“I’m a little far away, so some fans greet you with respect, but in the city, they are more passionate. The club is like a family. One phrase sums it all up: You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
Liverpool MUST keep hold of Mac Allister
After Alisson, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, Mac Allister has an argument for being Liverpool’s most influential player, given his box-to-box brilliance in the middle of the park.
For that reason, the Reds must do all they can to keep him at Anfield for as long as possible, with BBC pundit Garth Brooks heaping praise on him, saying:
“The ball by Mac Allister for Mohamed Salah to score Liverpool’s winner in the 2-1 victory against Brighton was nothing short of world-class. The Argentine midfielder did something similar for Darwin Nunez to snatch a last-gasp win against Nottingham Forest earlier in the season so there is no doubt about his quality.”
Thankfully, Mac Allister appears to be happy at Liverpool, and the more success they have, the more likely he is to remain at Anfield for the foreseeable future.
