Liverpool are now said to be eyeing a move for an attacking “magician” at the end of this season, according to a fresh transfer rumour.
The Reds have bolstered their options significantly in the final third this summer, not least by bringing in Alexander Isak for a British transfer record from Newcastle United.
Hugo Ekitike has also arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt, coming in for big money in his own right, with Liverpool filling the void left by the departures of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, and the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.
At some point, the Reds will need to find a natural long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, and a new update suggests that the Premier League champions may have found their man.
According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are plotting a move for Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise in the summer of 2026, with the Frenchman earmarked as an ideal eventual replacement for Salah.
The 23-year-old is valued at £87m, with Bayern and France international teammate Dayot Upamecano having this to say about him:
“I’m lucky to have him at club level as well. He’s a magician. His technical level is very, very high. He can do almost everything – he has a good left foot, he can score, he can defend, he can do it all.”
Is Olise the perfect Salah replacement at Liverpool?
At 33, Salah isn’t getting any younger, and while it is far too early to write him off, there have been signs early on this season that his pace is now on the wane, finding it harder to beat opponents in one-on-one situations.
That’s not to say that he doesn’t still have a huge amount to offer, but a successor needs to be found and Olise stands out as a fantastic option.
A beautiful and elegant player to watch, the former Crystal Palace star possesses an effortless ability to beat players and glide inside from the right wing, wreaking havoc with his left foot and improving his end product.
Olise has already scored three goals in two Bundesliga games this season, adding 12 strikes and 15 assists in the competition in 2024/25, and he currently stands out as a perfect choice for Liverpool next summer.
