Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in signing Lyon playmaker Rayan Cherki this summer with the French international likely to move to the Premier League.
The 21-year-old has been on fire this season and while Ligue 1 is not on the same level as the Premier League, there is no denying that Cherki is heading for the very top.
Not blessed with devastating pace or incredible strength, the Frenchman is, however, one of the best technicians in Europe and only stands to get better as time goes on.
This season, Cherki has 12 goals and 20 assists, according to Transfermarkt, and with four goals and eight assists in the Europa League, it’s clear to see that the is a man for the big occasion.
According to journalist Dahbia Hattabi, Cherki told reporters in the mixed zone this weekend that “he will likely leave OL” this summer before thanking the fans, his teammates, the staff and the club’s hierarchy.

A summer move is coming and if Liverpool make a bid, it will surely be considered after the Reds won the Premier League title in comfortable fashion in Arne Slot’s debut season.
“I expect English clubs to return because the interest is strong”, says Fabrizio Romano
Reporting via his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano reports that Cherki is likely to join an English side when he leaves Lyon this summer.
“This summer I expect English clubs to return because the interest is strong,” Romano said.
“Let’s see what Borussia Dortmund decide to do as well. In January Dortmund were convinced to trigger the release clause of Cherki but the problem was that the clause was not considered valid by Lyon.
“In France release clauses are not allowed so there was some legal stuff there that complicated things in terms of price tag.
“Probably the best solution to get Cherki is to try and be collaborative with Lyon, discuss with the president and find the solution.
“I expect clubs to return for Rayan Cherki, I expect to see the player leaving the club.
“At the moment with the current situation PSG are not interested in advancing on a deal for Cherki. The expectation is for Cherki to look for options outside of France to see some new opportunity around Europe.”
