Liverpool have announced that Ryan Gravenberch has signed a new long-term contract via their official channels.

Last season, the Dutchman came into his own under Arne Slot after the manager deployed Gravenberch in the no.6 role before they won the Premier League.

This season, the former Bayern Munich star hasn’t been at the same level he demonstrated last term, but with little cover in the defensive midfield department it’s not hard to see why.

Gravenberch has already played over 3,000 minutes of football in the 2025-26 season. Given that he played 4,200 minutes last season and will be at the FIFA World Cup in the summer, Liverpool need to manage his fitness carefully to avoid burning out such a talented young player.

Gravenberch signs new contract

23-year-old Gravenberch is now of the highest paid players in the Premier League and at Liverpool, according to a claim from Mike Verweij.

The midfielder has signed a new six-year deal and will earn a total of over €100m for the duration of the contract. That would put is weekly wage at around £280k – a huge jump from the £150k wage he was earning until this point.

Speaking to Liverpool’s media department after signing the contract, Gravenberch said: “I feel really, really good. I was really proud to extend my contract at such a big club. So, I’m really happy that I can stay for many more years.”

The extended contract means that he will be at the club until 2032, barring any complications down the line.

With several more years of Gravenberch at Anfield to look forward to, the hope is he will help bring more success to the club.

A point he made in his interview with LFCTV.

Gravenberch said: “I have a really nice relationship with them [the supporters]. Always when I do something good in the stadium I hear them singing my chant.

“I’m really grateful for the supporters because without them we would not be where we are now. In the future, we want to give them many more [trophies], so hopefully we can get that done.”
