Liverpool are “looking at” signing Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo this summer, according to an update from reliable journalist Miguel Delaney.
The Reds are expected to bring in attacking reinforcements when the summer transfer window arrives, with doubts persisting over their depth in that area.
Diogo Jota may have been Liverpool’s match-winner against Everton in midweek, but his injury problems remain an issue, while Darwin Nunez hasn’t developed enough as a player since arriving in the summer of 2022.
Luis Diaz was excellent against the Blues on Wednesday night, but he has been linked with a move to Barcelona and the Merseysiders could look for a younger option on the left wing.
According to The Independent‘s Delaney on X, Liverpool are “looking at” Bournemouth ace Semenyo as a summer option, but they competition from Manchester United, among others:
“Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are looking at Semenyo, who is considering his options Not first choice as left forward for any of them, but he’s been a stand-out for Bournemouth.”
An exciting wide option for Liverpool
Semenyo could be exactly what Liverpool are after ahead of next season, ahead of a strong season that has seen him shine for an impressive Bournemouth side.
The 25-year-old has seven goals and four assists to his name in the Premier League in 2024/25 to date, while teammate Lewis Cook knows what a talented footballer he is, saying of him last October:
“As a team, we knew the quality he has and we saw that last year. He’s got to just keep working hard – being aggressive and being clinical. He’s got a lot better at running back and helping out the team too. He’s a powerful lad and has all the ability in the world. Hopefully he can continue to show that.”
While primarily a left-sided attacking player, Semenyo can also shine on the right flank, and his versatility could appeal to Arne Slot, especially with Mohamed Salah not yet signing a new deal at Anfield, and Diaz backed to leave.
The Ghanaian has shown his ability in a Bournemouth shirt, but like Sadio Mane when he arrived at Liverpool from Southampton in 2016, he could find extra gears alongside some world-class players for the Reds.
