Darren Bent says he is shcoekd by the price Liverpool are reportedly able to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi for.

Not only are Liverpool interested in the English international but they are also on the finish line to sign Giovanni Leoni.

Sky Sports report that a fee has been agreed with Parma for £26m plus add-ons and 18-year-old Leoni “now has permission to travel to Liverpool to agree personal terms and undergo a medical, which is expected to begin on Thursday.”

After captaining Palace to a win in the Community Shield over Liverpool, he is now poised to join the Reds ahead of a hugely anticipated season due to kickoff on Friday with the Premier League opener against Bournemouth.

According to the Mail‘s Lewis Steele, Liverpool’s “proposed offer of £30m plus £5m in add-ons” falls short of Palace’s valuation but chairman Steve Parish has already admitted that they need to sell to prevent losing him for free next summer.

Meanwhile, the The Times’ Paul Joyce reports that Crystal Palace are aware Marc Guehi wants to join Arne Slot’s Liverpool.

Darren Bent cannot believe Liverpool could land such a good deal

In Guehi, Liverpool are getting a centre-back that is very, very good on the ball, has great Premier League experience, captained his side to an FA Cup trophy and is only 25.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Darren Bent couldn’t believe that Liverpool could sign him for £35m all in.

“Guehi, I think he’s got everything,” he said.

“I thought he was one of our best players in the Euros, he was brilliant, strong, powerful, [and] he could play with the ball.

“He looks like a real leader, he looks like a really good character as well, I think he’s top drawer, I genuinely do.

“I’m shocked to be fair, at that price [£35million], the amount of teams that are looking for centre-halves, I think he’s good enough to play for Manchester City, I know they got Ruben Dias and Stones but he’s good enough to mix it with them boys.

“I think he’s good enough to go to Liverpool, he’s good enough to play at Arsenal.”
