Liverpool News: Reds eyeing attacking ace

The agents of Wolves teenager Mateus Mane have reportedly spent time at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre, according to a new transfer update.

The Reds need an injection of youth and quality to their attack in the summer transfer window, amid the struggles of Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo.

According to a key claim from Dave OCKOP on X, Liverpool appear to be in the race to sign Mane from Wolves, but other clubs are also hovering:

“EXCLUSIVE: The agents of Mateus Mane have visited the AXA training centre ahead of potential summer move. Mane’s reps are set to visit a number of clubs with talks at an early stage. The 18-year-old has taken the Premier League by storm this season. Would you be happy with him signing for Liverpool?”

Can Mateus be the next great Mane at Liverpool?

Mane is such an exciting prospect, proving to be one of the few positives in a dire season for Wolves, with relegation from the Premier League now all but certain.

The 18-year-old has two goals and one assist to his name in the league this season, almost acting as a talismanic figure for Wanderers and being hailed by manager Rob Edwards:

“When they come into the first team, a lot of teenagers might change their game and play a bit safer, but he’s doing exactly what he did in the age-group sides.

“We all have to try to remain humble, especially now when he’s performing in the Premier League because it reaches so far and wide. It’s not his fault – it’s because he’s done so well – but everyone is talking about him. If he keeps his feet on the ground and keeps working hard, because he’s got the talent he will go on and do really well.”

Granted, it would be unfair to expect Mane to be an instant hit, as he adjusts to life at a huge club, but he has the ability to enjoy a similar impact to his namesake Sadio Mane at Anfield as the years pass, without putting too much pressure on him.

If Liverpool don’t get their man this summer, one of their Premier League rivals likely will, which could look like an increasingly big blow the more he matures as a footballer.
