Liverpool are reportedly among the Premier League clubs who are believed to be “closely monitoring” Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed an excellent season for the Magpies, including keeping world superstar Lamine Yamal quiet in his side’s 1-1 draw at home to Barcelona in the Champions League earlier this week.

Hall is arguably the favourite to start at left-back for England at the 2026 World Cup, so it is understandable why plenty of clubs are eyeing him up.

According to a fresh report from Caught Offside, Liverpool are one of them, with the Premier League champions “closely monitoring” the £70m-rated Englishman.

They are far from alone in showing an interest, though, with Manchester City, Arsenal, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and “several La Liga sides” all keen, too.

No bids have been tabled for Hall yet, but it looks as though Newcastle are going to have a fight on their hands when it comes to keeping hold of one of their best players this summer.

Do Liverpool need to sign Lewis Hall this summer?

Hall is a brilliant young footballer who has made big strides this season, with Newcastle manager Eddie Howe speaking highly of him in recent days, saying:

“He’s probably one of those players I’d say is playing his best football currently. I think there’s loads more to come from him. I think there’s still areas of his game to focus on and improve. But he’s got a lot of strengths that not many players in that position would have. And that’s what makes him stand out and catch the eye.”

Hall could flourish for Liverpool, combining defensive expertise with attacking prowess – he has one goal and assist apiece in the league this season, and averaged two tackles per game – but do they need him with Milos Kerkez already their first-choice left-back?

The Hungarian may not be the finished article yet, but neither is the England international, and the Reds have paid good money for Kerkez, rightly seeing him as Andy Robertson’s successor at left-back.

That’s not to say that Liverpool should completely turn their noses up at the idea of signing Hall, considering what a top-quality player he is, but those funds could be spent on more important areas of the pitch ahead of next season.
