Liverpool are ready to splash the cash to sign Florian Wirtz as they wait to hear from the player and his family over his decision between Bayern Munich and the Reds.
In April, Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro said: “No one is unsellable, but for less than €150m (£126.7m), Wirtz is not leaving.”
Now, it seems as though Liverpool are prepared to pay the sum if Wirtz gives them the green light.
According to Kicker, “Liverpool are said to have impressed the Wirtz family mightily” and are now waiting for feedback with “a decision likely to be made within ten days at the latest.”
Liverpool are ready to pay “important money” to sign Florian Wirtz, says Fabrizio Romano
Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool have no qualms over the sum of money it will require as they are simply waiting to learn the player’s decision.
Speaking on the Market Madness podcast: “Liverpool are doing their job.
“When there is a top player like Florian Wirtz potentially available on the market, it’s normal to meet with people who represent the player, present the project. That’s what Liverpool did, presented their idea, presented their ambition and also the idea of Arne Slot, in case he decides to join.
“The player was quite open to listening to their project. Now, it’s on Florian Wirtz. Liverpool are waiting to see what the player wants to do.
“In case the player decides to move to the Premier League and join them, Liverpool are ready to pay important money to Bayer Leverkusen. The financial agreement is not seen as an eventual issue or problem between Leverkusen and Liverpool.”
It’s good to see Liverpool acting like the Premier League champions they are
While it is arguably the smarter way to run a football club, Liverpool fans can get a bit tired of the Moneyball approach FSG take in the market but the American owners are now backing Arne Slot very aggressively.
A deal to sign Jeremie Frimpong has already been thrashed out with it now just a case of when Liverpool announce the deal. Should they also sign Wirtz, it would be an extremely aggressive start to the window and fans are loving it.
