Liverpool’s transfer plans are already being carried out and they, along with Barcelona and Arsenal, are keen on signing Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez.

Signing him will not be easy as, according to Yahoo! Sports, Liverpool would have to pay even more to sign the Argentine than they are set to for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.

Alvarez has a £125 million release clause in his Atleti contract and after only spending a single year at the club after joining them last summer, it will take a very special offer to convince him to move on so soon.

Liverpool were interested in Alvarez even during his Manchester City spell but the Premier League outfit were never going to sell such a good player to a rival as competitve as the Reds.

Now, a potential move to the Premier League is shaping up with Arsenal and Liverpool investigating what it would take to sign him.

Liverpool want Julian Alvarez as Arne Slot hopes to build sensational attacking lineup

Mohamed Salah will be at the club for another two years with his contract extension as good as any signing on the market but Liverpool are adding Florian Wirtz to the squad which promises to be extremely exciting.

Add Alvarez into the mix and Liverpool will score an unprecedented number of goals.

According to Spanish news Marca, there is “growing interest from big clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal..

The report continues: “His impressive performance have sparked the interest of several European giants. Liverpool have already sounded out his signing, but Arsenal are now the strongest bidder for his services.

In Atlético’s favor, it seems the number 19 isn’t keen on returning to the Premier League. He knows the league and the language, yes, but he feels more comfortable in Madrid and in a league where he has become one of the league’s standout players.”

This is a major blow for Liverpool and Arsenal but Barcelona remain interested albeit only for the future.

There has been some talk about Darwin Nunez going to Atletico Madrid to sweeten a deal but if the player doesn’t want to return to the Premier League, it may out of Liverpool’s hands.
