Liverpool are yet to agree on a new contract with Mohamed Salah and are at risk of losing him for free in a matter of months and it’s been claimed that they’re keeping an eye on Jarrod Bowen in case Salah leaves.

What Mo Salah has achieved at Liverpool is simply remarkable. When he joined in 2017, he came with the reputation of being a ‘Chelsea flop’.

Mind you, this was despite scoring 34 goals and providing 21 assists in 83 games for AS Roma but in his first season for the Reds, he broke the Premier League record (32) for goals in a single season.

He ended that season with 44 goals and 14 assists in 52 games in all competitions.

This season, almost eight years later, Salah has 25 goals and 17 assists in 33 games and is still finding ways to break records and further cement his place in history.

Yet, he might not be at Liverpool next season. With his contract expiring in four months, there is a distinct chance he won’t be at the club unless an agreement can be reached on a new deal.

In the meantime, Liverpool are doing their due diligence and looking at players that have what it takes to replace him even if there really isn’t a right winger at his level in the world.

Scout says Liverpool are keeping an eye on Jarrod Bowen

According to former scout Mick Brown, Liverpool are considering Bowen at the moment in case Mohamed Salah leaves the club for free in the summer.

He told Football Insider: “You could make the case that he’d be capable of playing for any top team in the country. Let’s say Arsenal lost Saka for any reason, Bowen would do brilliantly there.

“Liverpool have been keeping an eye on him actually, because of the situation they’re in with Salah, Bowen would be the perfect player to come in and replace him.

“So that might be one they look to do in the summer, even though he’s happy and playing for West Ham, they might see if they can tempt him.”

Liverpool would do better going after Saka

Bowen is a fantastic player so no disrespect to him but Liverpool replacing Salah with a player that is 28 and not putting up world-class numbers would make little sense.

For instance, if Bowen were to sign a five-year deal with Liverpool, he’d be a year older than Salah (32) is now by the end of it.

If FSG are really to part with Salah, they should rather look at Bukayo Saka or someone in his bracket. Salah is a generational talent and replacing him with Bowen would not be suitable.
