Liverpool are among the European powerhouses desperate to sign Argentinian wonderkid Franco Mastantuono as the teenager gets set to leave River Plate.

The summer transfer window is beckoning and with most top sides in England in serious need of wholesale upgrades, including Premier League champions Liverpool, it promises to be an entertaining off-season.

So far, the Reds have been linked with world class operators like Alexander Isak, Cole Palmer, Florian Wirtz and more. But, the Reds are famous for paying close attention to the world’s top young talents.

There are few generating more excitement right now than River Plate prodigy Franco Mastantuono. The 17-year-old may not be playing in an elite league but there is very little doubt that he has a future at the top.

Liverpool want to bid for Franco Mastantuono but his heart is set on Real Madrid

According to a report from Argentine news outlet La Pagina Millonaria, Mastantuono wants to play for Madrid but if Los Blancos pass on the opportunity to do what they did with Endrick and take him to Spain, there is a whole host of European sides that will snap at the chance to sign him.

“He wants to play for Real Madrid,” the report reads.

“Given his desire, he would be willing to listen to an offer from the White House and would only change his mind if an institution of the same caliber comes along, which could be Bayern Munich, Liverpool or Barcelona.”

Meanwhile, a report from the same outlet from February suggests that due to poor conduct from Mastantuono’s representatives, he has been “blacklisted” by Madrid and cannot move to La Liga to play for them.

If that’s the case, the latest report on the teenager from Caught Offside which claims Liverpool are “seriously considering” a bid would be an exciting development.

Mastantuono has the potential to be one of the very best players in the world

The above image is a snapshot of one of the best free kicks I have ever seen and probably the best ever scored by a 17-year-old in professional football.

As an Argentine, it’s probably not lost on Mastantuono how similar the technique he used to score here is to the way the GOAT Lionel Messi strikes his own free kicks.

Now, I mean little by that aside from the fact that the no.30 has simply outrageous technique for someone that cannot legally drink in most countries.

Watch for yourself.

It is highly unlikely Liverpool will sign Mastantuono as things stand but if they can pull of a deal to sign him, they will have two of the most exciting wingers in world football coming through the ranks.

On the right wing, they would have Mastantuono and on the left, none other than Rio Ngumoha.
