Alexis Mac Allister stayed at Liverpool this summer, but there are reportedly plans to replace him with Lamine Camara in the future.
The Reds sold Curtis Jones to Inter Milan for £30m, but despite having time and multiple opportunities, they decided against signing a replacement, with their plan seemingly being to use Trey Nyoni instead.
The 19-year-old is ready for the major step up to Premier League football, although he will need to bulk up to deal with the increase in physical intensity, as evidenced by the way he lost a couple of duels against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
That said, there are still concerns over the balance of Liverpool’s midfield, with the squad still not boasting a No.6 aside from Wataru Endo. The Japan international has never been a regular for Liverpool, but there does appear to be interest in AS Monaco’s Lamine Camara.
Liverpool were reportedly in contact with Camara and Monaco all day on Deadline Day before his move to Chelsea collapsed, with the Reds telling the 22-year-old to wait for them until 2027.
Now, talkSPORT reports that the long-term plan is to replace Mac Allister with Camara.

They report that “Liverpool contacted Camara’s advisers to express an interest in signing him next summer.
“The 22-year-old Senegalese is being eyed as a replacement for Alexis Mac Allister, who could leave Anfield at the end of the season.
“The Argentine’s father recently came out to quash wild rumours of a possible late summer move to Man City, insisting his son sees his immediate future at Anfield, with his contract running until the summer of 2028.”
Mac Allister’s £150,000-a-week contract expires in 2028, with no sign of a contract extension at this point.
Carlos Mac Allister recently confirmed that his son would spend this season at Liverpool, telling the press that there have been no fresh talks over extending Alexis’ contract at Anfield.
Mac Allister Sr. said: “My son will stay at Liverpool. We have never discussed the possibility of him leaving the club this summer.”
Liverpool will struggle to extract a premium fee for Macca next summer, given there will only be one year left on his deal, which might complicate any plans to replace him.
