Liverpool could send Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez to Napoli and, in turn, sign top striker Victor Osimhen as they prepare their next big summer signings.

Owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have blown supporters away this summer with their aggressive approach in the market, moving to sign Florian Wirtz when the opportunity presented itself.

The German will make the £116m move to the Premier League this summer and while the transfer has and will continue to receive a lot of scrutiny, he joins a club blessed with a good platform to build from.

Winning the Premier League title in his first season didn’t just secure a healthy measure of good will from supporters – it ensured that the Dutch coach now has the freedom to experiment with his side this summer and the season to follow without much fear of backlash.

Giorgi Mamardashvili and Jeremie Frimpong have already been signed while Milos Kerkez is set to be made official. What has to happen now is Liverpool need to sell a few players to make room and create funds for further investment.

Selling Darwin Nunez guarantees a good return while Luis Diaz shouldn’t be but could be sold as well. Chiesa is expected to leave after essentially having a really well-paid front row seat to this season’s success.

While these types of deals are by no means as common as the press seems to believe given the name of swap deals are rumoured every summer but it’s certainly something I can imagine CEO of Football Michael Edwards would be interested in.

According to Italian journalist Gerardo Fasano, Nunez and Chiesa have already said ‘yes’ to joining Napoli – now Liverpool are just waiting on approval from Victor Osimhen, who just rejected another massive offer from Saudi Arabia with a €50m (£42.6m) per year follow up offer reportedly on its way.

Speaking to Area Napoli, Fasano reports: “Chiesa and Nunez have already said yes to Napoli, this is the news I can give you, and it refers to the very last hours of the transfer market.

“What is missing to conclude the deal? Victor Osimhen’s yes has not yet been given,” Fasano added.

“Furthermore, both Napoli and Liverpool are working on defining the details regarding the costs of the players’ registration cards.”
