Liverpool are reportedly considering selling Federico Chiesa after just one season at the club with a couple Italian sides already showing interest.

The 27-year-old has played just 41 minutes of Premier League football this season and although he is eligble for a medal after a short cameo during the 3-1 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday, he does not look set for a second season on Merseyside.

It’s such a pity as there is a lot more to Chiesa than what Liverpool fans have been able to enjoy. His lack of minutes almost boggles the mind because he cannot be worse than Darwin Nunez, who has played just over 1,000 minutes in the league this season.

Of course, Arne Slot may have been putting Nunez in the shop window, so to speak, but all the same, it’s a shame that Chiesa may leave without ever having really experienced what it is to play for Liverpool.

Liverpool are “open to the sale” of Federico Chiesa with AC Milan and Napoli both expressing interest

According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are willing to entertain offers for Chiesa this summer with Napoli and AC Milan reportedly “monitoring the Italian winger’s situation, though a deal remains far from straightforward.”

Liverpool are not willing to listen to loan offers – only permanet ones.

The Reds have set a valuation of €15–20 million (£12.7-£16.9m) and while this is described as “an affordable price tag for many top European clubs”, the wingers wages will be an issue.

Liverpool, according to Capology, pay Chiesa a weekly wage of £150,000 which explains why they are happy to move him on but the Italian will find it difficult to find a club willing to match his current salary based on his lack of football in the last 10 months.

The report adds: “Napoli, on the other hand, are even less likely to match his current salary, which is considered excessive by their financial standards.”

Tottenham could be the only realistic destination for Chiesa

Caught Offside goes on to say that Spurs “have also entered the race and could emerge as serious contenders.” Fabio Paratici, who knows Chiesa from their time at Juventus, is returning to Spurs and his relationship with the winger’s agent, Fali Ramadani, could be “crucial.”

Given Spurs’ superior finances compared with most Italian clubs, remaining in the Premier League is a distinct possibility for Chiesa.
