Former scout Mick Brown claims Liverpool could be looking to sell Diogo Jota at the end of the season, as doubts persist over his future.

The Portuguese has endured a frustrating campaign, with injury problems again preventing him from being a regular starter for the Reds.

Jota has struggled for form in recent weeks, with his fitness woes arguably looking like they have caught up with him, and Liverpool look likely to prioritise a new striker this summer.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown claimed that Jota could be on his way out of the exit door, as well as both Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez:

They’ve finally reached agreements with Salah and Van Dijk. Now that will allow them to turn their attention towards the rest of their squad and the positions they feel need to be strengthened. From what I hear, Slot is not totally happy with the three forward players Diaz, Jota and Nunez.

“They want to better them in the window and so if they receive good enough offers for them, I think they’ll be prepared to let them go. There has been talk of interest in them so that situation might be one to watch.

“They’ll then use that money to sign new forwards who better suit their style. It’s important not to lose too many players if you aren’t able to replace them, especially from a title-winning squad, but they feel improvements can be made.”

The right time for Liverpool to sell Jota?

Jota staying at Liverpool certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing, considering what a great finisher he has proven to be down years, being hailed as “exceptional” by Jurgen Klopp.

As mentioned, though, the 28-year-old is showing signs of wear and tear after so many injuries, meaning this summer could be the right time to cash in on him.

Even if Jota remains at Liverpool, it has to be as a squad player, with an upgrade needed to lead the line, both in terms of all-round quality and availability.

If the right offer comes along for the Portugal international, the Reds should consider accepting it, and the same applies to Diaz and Jota.
