Liverpool have discussed signing Victor Osimhen with four more strikers under evaluation to replace Darwin Nunez.

The former Benfica star is one of the most exciting and entertaining players to don Anfield red in recent seasons but he simply doesn’t have the consistency to become the elite striker that Liverpool gambled £85m on him developing into.

So, naturally, Liverpool are assessing all top striker targets in Europe and while the most natural replacement would be Alexander Isak, therre is virtually zero chance they spend £150m on the Swede especially during a window in which they are set to spend £126m to sign Florian Wirtz.

The German alone increases the likelihood of Liverpool scoring the most goals in the Premier League for two seasons straight.

Liverpool discuss signing Victor Osimhen “during a high-ranking meeting” after he rejected £650,000/week Saudi salary

According to a report from Danny Rust and Dean Jones for GiveMeSport, Liverpool have discussed signing Victor Osimhen after the Nigerian reportedly rejected a mammoth Saudi salary offer worth a mind-boggling £650,000 per week.

They report: “Osimhen’s name was mentioned as a potential target during a high-ranking meeting at Liverpool last week but there remains a slim chance of him ending up in the Premier League as his camp have conceded that Turkish side Galatasaray are expected to win the race for his signature.

“Osimhen’s name has cropped up since Liverpool have turned their attentions towards recruiting a proven goalscorer, but his wage demands would be a significant stumbling block and Galatasaray are attempting to tie up a deal after he enjoyed a prolific loan spell with them during the 2024/25 campaign.”

Liverpool not looking at Osimhenm says a different report

Meanwhile another report suggests Liverpool aren’t considering Osimhen but are rather looking at four diferent forwards.

According to Ben Jacobs, reporting for talkSPORT this week, the Reds are only looking at Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko, Hugo Ekitike and Joao Pedro.

Liverpool have surprised a lot of people with their willigness to break the Premier League transfer record for Florian Wirtz when reports claimed that they want Isak but weren’t willing to spend over £100m to sign him.

Of course, Arne Slot may simply believe signing an elite playmaker is more essential than signing someone to put the chances he will create in the back of the net when he already has the best forward in Europe at the club in Mohamed Salah.
