Liverpool FC’s 2025–26 season sees Arne Slot leading a squad packed with talent, combining experienced veterans with emerging youth talent

From placing faith in new signings like Florian Wirtz to trusting Rio Ngumoha over signing an elite left winger, this new era at Anfield is exciting.

The season began with a mix of thrilling late winners and humbling defeats in succession, but one thing is clear: Liverpool are building something special.

This guide covers every first-team player and major staff member in Arne Slot’s squad this season.

Goalkeepers

Liverpool’s goalkeeping department blends experience with future potential.

Liverpool’s goalkeeping department in 2025–26 offers a mix of world-class experience and emerging talent, ensuring Arne Slot has options in every match.

Alisson Becker remains the first-choice goalkeeper but at the age of 33, the Brazilian is not going to be the No.1 at Anfield forever.

Behind him, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Freddie Woodman provide depth, ready to step in when needed, while young prospect Armin Pecsi is steadily developing and gaining exposure to first-team football.

This balance allows Liverpool to maintain consistency at the back while preparing for the future.

Defenders

Liverpool’s defence is a blend of experienced leaders and exciting young players, giving the team both stability and dynamism.

Virgil van Dijk continues to anchor the backline after he signed a new long-term Liverpool contract with the Reds in 2025.

Partnering with him, Ibrahima Konate is an uncertain figure in the current squad. Until he puts pen to paper on a new deal, his future will remain shrouded in doubt. The French star is out of contract at the end of the season.

The squad also features versatile defenders like Joe Gomez, Milos Kerkez, Conor Bradley, and Jeremie Frimpong.

Veteran Andy Robertson and youth talent Giovanni Leoni add experience and promise, respectively. Leoni has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL rupture.

Midfielders

Liverpool’s midfield in 2025–26 is an unbalanced mix of creativity, energy, and tactical discipline – a challenge for Slot’s style of play.

It will be interesting to see how the Dutch manager ultimately brings Florian Wirtz to his full potential. Around him are Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo, and Curtis Jones.

Fringe and youth options include Trey Nyoni and Stefan Bajcetic.

It’s very clear that Liverpool have a wealth of options, but finding balance will be key. On the way to winning the 2024-25 Premier League title, their midfield trio of Mac Allister, Szoboszlai and Gravenberch was immense.

Now, with the addition of Wirtz, it’s up to Slot to make it work.

Forwards

Mohamed Salah continues to lead from the front, even if the 2025-26 season marks the worst-ever start to a season for the Egyptian.

Alongside him, Cody Gakpo is a reliable if unspectacular player, while Hugo Ekitike has already emerged as the team’s top scorer.

Premier League record signing Alexander Isak needs to reach full fitness after his move to Anfield but there are no doubts over whether or not he will be able to make the grade on Merseyside.

Federico Chiesa, and young prospect Rio Ngumoha, add depth and versatility, allowing Slot to rotate his attacking options without compromising much quality.

This forward line is key to Liverpool’s strategy of high-intensity pressing and clinical finishing, making them a constant threat to opponents.
