Liverpool have reportedly rebuffed another approach for Luis Diaz.

Nothing has proved that the world keeps spinning even after death quite like the way football has already largely turned its attention to the transfer window.

It’s business as usual for some.

At Liverpool Football Club, however, reality has been suspended.

Nothing feels real since the world lost Diogo Jota and Andre Silva this week.

While it seems unfathomable to imagine that the LFC staff and players have to get back to it in the next week or so, they are still receiving contact from clubs regarding interest in their players.

The club has postponed the start of pre-season to hold more space for the grieving players and coaching staff but it seems there are still a lot of people working behind the scenes to ensure the club is ready for the start of the new season.

The next couple of months are going to feel very dystopian as the demand of the football world forces Liverpool into action when it’s easy to imagine many at the club just want to block it all out.

Fabrizio Romano issues update on Luis Diaz’s future

According to the Italian journalist, Liverpool have rejected another approach for Diaz this week.

For Barcelona, the name of Luis Diaz has always remained internally, it’s still a name they have on their shortlist. The focus of Barcelona, it’s important to say, remains on Nico Williams,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

Bayern tried in the past few days [to sign Luis Diaz] and Liverpool said no, they don’t want to sell the player. The same answer was given to Barcelona a few weeks ago when they tried [to sign Diaz]. There is still the interest of Al-Nassr, so we will be following the situation.

“But for sure, the situation of Luis Diaz is going to be one to watch with this case of Bayern, and at the moment, the club saying no to his exit.”

Liverpool  – if they can – should keep the rest of the squad together. No more sales.

Liverpool have an incredible squad, filled with quality but next season’s success will no longer be defined by the quality of the squad at Arne Slot’s disposal.

Instead I believe an important thing the club can do is to ensure that all of the players they still have – not including those that have already left this summer – remain together.

Liverpool have, for a long time, demonstrated how to rebound from tragedy. How to grow together despite crisis.

If keeping this group together meant Liverpool didn’t win a trophy next season, I’m willing to bet a fair number of supporters would make the trade in a second.

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter much because the tragedy has already happened.

All of us – from club employees and players to supporters – have to find a way to process our grief.
