Liverpool are reportedly “seriously considering” signing PSV Eindhoven star Johan Bakayoko this summer but will likely need to compete with Arsenal for his signature.

The 21-year-old has been in fine form this season and is attracting attention from the biggest clubs in Europe with his pace, dribbling, movement and confidence in possession all attractive attributes to scouts.

Just yesterday, I wrote about how Liverpool will likely compete with Newcastle United for Bakayoko after the forward recently said that he could “definitely” make the switch to Anfield.

Now, an exclusive from Caught Offside suggests that Liverpool are “seriously considering” making a move to bring the young Belgian forward to Anfield in the summer transfer window.

Report names Liverpool as serious contenders to sign Johan Bakayoko

Today, Caught Offside reports that Liverpool and Arsenal are two of the most serious suitors in the race to sign PSV Eindhoven star Bakayoko.

The 21-year-old is focused on making the switch to the Premier League and has already rejected big money from the Saudi Pro League to continue chasing his ambitions in European football. It’s a good indicator that Bakayoko isn’t chasing money alone with his hopes of moving to England.

Reportedly, Liverpool are “seriously considering making a move for Bakayoko” in the summer. Arsenal, on the other hand, are expected to keep a close eye on the PSV star’s transfer moves.

Signing Bakayoko will cost around €50-60m (£41-50m) while Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also very interested in Bakayoko and will continue to monitor him.

Mohamed Salah’s future may play a key role in whether Liverpool pursue Bakayoko or not. As is well known, Liverpool have yet to reach an agreement with Salah with his contract currently set to expire at the end of the season.

Liverpool are under huge pressure to renew his terms but if he does leave, the Reds will have a massive task on their hands to replace him. Bakayoko is a promising talent but there is nothing to suggest that he has what it takes to replicate what Salah has achieved at Anfield since 2017.
