Liverpool are battling six other huge clubs for the signing of highly-rated Mexico international Gilberto Moro this summer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The 17-year-old has seen his stock rise during the 2026 World Cup, performing with great maturity at the heart of Mexico’s midfield.
Liverpool are seen as one of the clubs pushing to complete the signing of Mora during the summer transfer window, and speaking to Football Insider, O’Rourke talked up Liverpool’s continued interest, but they are joined in the race by six other heavyweight clubs:
“It won’t just be Liverpool who are interested in Mora, you’ve probably got all of Europe’s big guns who would be interested in the Mexican prodigy. Liverpool are one of those clubs who’ve registered an interest in Mora, keeping tabs on Mora.
“Obviously, it’s a bit complicated because he can’t go anywhere just yet he’s still only 17 so he would have to wait until he’s 18 before making that move across to Europe. He recently signed a new deal with Tijuana as well, so that complicates things because his contract there is now set to run until 2029.
“Real Madrid are interested in him, you’ve got Barcelona, Manchester City, Chelsea, PSG, Bayern Munich. “It’s going to be an open race for Mora, and because he’s so highly rated and one of the best young players in world football right now, you’ll have all the biggest clubs in the world trying to sign him.”

It remains to be seen who will win the battle to snap up Mora, but Liverpool are right to keep pursuing him, considering his immense long-term potential.
The teenage midfielder could come in as a good squad player for the Reds, becoming a key figure over time, having been described as having a “special aura” by Rafaela Pimenta.
Hopefully, a move to the Premier League appeals to Mora, but the threat of the likes of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain is obvious, given their respective status as a Spanish powerhouse and reigning European champions.
He would be an exciting coup for Andoni Iraola, who may feel he can turn him into a formidable part of his midfield, and the sky looks to be the limit for him.
