Liverpool are now leading the race to complete the signing of Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The Reds continue to eye signings after a great summer in the market, ensuring they remain a dominant force for as long as possible.
Speaking to Football Insider, O’Rourke claimed that Bayern now want a “huge” £100m for Olise, also saying in the report that Liverpool are in pole position to sign the Frenchman:
“It’s more than just Liverpool who will be looking at Michael Olise – his career is just going up and up. All top European clubs will be interested in Michael Olise, he’s not going to be easy one to get out of Bayern though.
“He’s under contract at the German club until 2029 and Bayern Munich won’t want to lose him, you’re talking huge money to get him out of there. You’d be looking at £100million for Bayern [to sell him].”
Olise the perfect Salah successor at Liverpool
Olise is a sensational young footballer who is getting better all the time, and he currently feels like the perfect long-term successor to Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.
The 23-year-old takes up the same right-sided role as the Reds legend, and he has been hailed by Bayern teammate Serge Gnabry recently:
“He has enormous potential and is one of the best players in the world right now. I don’t know where his limit is! Michael can achieve anything. He can play centrally, keep the ball, and is a good one-on-one player. I didn’t know him that well and didn’t expect it to be like this. Maybe it doesn’t seem that way sometimes, given the way he presents himself, but he has a very good mindset.”
Granted, £100m is a lot of money, having already spent big on Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak this summer, but Olise is a world-class winger who could end up being worth every penny for Liverpool.
At 23, the only way is up for the former Crystal Palace star, assuming he avoids injury problems, and Arne Slot and Richard Hughes should be viewing him as a primary transfer target in 2026.
