Liverpool “in talks” with huge club over signing of attacking “magician”; he’s “keen” on move

|

Liverpool are believed to be “in talks” over the signing of Bayern Munich superstar Michael Olise, with certain Reds players potentially part of the deal.

The 24-year-old is one of the world’s best players currently, producing consistent brilliance in a Bayern shirt, and also excelling for France at the 2026 World Cup.

Olise was one of many wingers linked with Liverpool in the summer transfer window, but in truth, it always felt like the funds wouldn’t be there to complete such a huge-money move.

Now, according to a respected source on X, the Reds are still pursuing the Frenchman, who is “keen” on heading to Anfield, with Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz and Rio Ngumoha mentioned as part of a swap:

“Reliable sources indicate that Liverpool are in talks with Bayern Munich over a potential summer move for Michael Olise. Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz and Rio Ngumoha have been mentioned as part of the discussions. LFC are understood to be open to a range of options. Olise is believed to be very keen on a move to Anfield.”

Could Liverpool really sign Michael Olise in 2027?

For many, Olise would be the absolute dream signing for Liverpool, with the former Crystal Palace man tailor-made to be the best possible successor to the still-not-replaced Mohamed Salah.

A wonderful player to watch, he also has a huge amount of substance in his game – he bagged 15 goals and 19 assists in the Bundesliga last season – and club and international teammate Dayot Upamecano has said of him:

“He’s a magician. His technical level is very high. He can do everything. He can score, set up, and even defend.”

That said, Liverpool shouldn’t consider selling Wirtz for the time being, even though he continues to underwhelmed by the standards expected of him.

The same applies to Ngumoha, who has an enormous ceiling, so with all due respect to him, Gakpo is the one player of the three who feels expendable for the Reds.

If Wirtz hasn’t improved at all by next summer, Liverpool’s stance on him may change, but the idea of him and Olise in the same side is a mouthwatering prospect.
