Liverpool are reportedly now looking at Antonio Nusa as an alternative option to his RB Leipzig teammate Yan Diomande this summer.
Diomande has been linked with the Reds many times of late, but it looks as though he will remain at Leipzig, having confirmed as much in recent days:
“Yes. I’m not thinking about that right now. I’m at Leipzig and I enjoy playing here. In the end, it’s always the statistics that count. It’s been a fantastic year for me.”
Now, Football Insider report that Liverpool “could make a move” for Nusa this summer, should their attempts to snap up Diomande “become too difficult” for them.
It is claimed that the Reds “want to invest in new wingers on both flanks” ahead of the 21026/27 season, and Leipzig’s stars are both being targeted ahead of what could be a huge summer of change at Anfield.”
The £47.6m-rated winger is another hugely exciting young wide man, but he “wouldn’t be seen as a direct replacement” for Mohamed Salah because he is a left-sided attacking player instead of excelling on the right.
Can Antonio Nusa become Liverpool’s next star winger?
Nusa is a player with so much long-term potential, already scoring seven goals in 22 caps for Norway, as well as being lauded as “amazing” by scout Jacek Kulig.
Liverpool have to be looking at signing two wingers in the summer transfer window – one to replace Salah and another to provide more quality on the left flank – and Nusa looks like a fantastic option for the latter.
At 21, he has the best years of his career ahead of him, so he could grow alongside Rio Ngumoha at Anfield, with the young pair providing healthy competition as the seasons pass.
Nusa’s pace, trickery and end product could be such a potent weapon for Liverpool, with the Norwegian bagging four goals and three assists in the Bundesliga this season.
He has been compared to Neymar in terms of style, which says a lot about his ability, and if he can become half the player that the Brazilian has, the Reds would have a special player in their ranks.
