Liverpool can seize on an opportunity to sign Mohammed Kudus from West Ham this summer with the Hammers prepared to accept offers below the Ghanaian’s release clause.
The summer transfer window is an exciting prospect for Liverpool this year as it will give them the chance to take Arne Slot’s squad to even greater heights with calculated moves.
Of course, the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold is an unwanted factor but Slot seems to know exactly what he wants next season, even if he is remaining tight-lipped.
The club seems to be doing a good job of keeping a tight lid on their true motives so at this point, pretty much anything could happen which is why Liverpool should really take a closer look at Kudus even despite his poor goal return this season.
“West Ham would be prepared to accept offers of £70million for Mohammed Kudus”
According to Football Insider’s Peter O’Rourke, Liverpool are interested in Kudus and West Ham are now willing to accept bids of below £70million – which is the value of Kudus’ release clause.
O’Rourke claims that Liverpool consider Kudus to be a “definite” upgrade on many of the forwards at Slot’s disposal currently.
That sounds odd given that even Darwin Nunez has more goal contributions in the Premier League this season with five goals and three assists. But Kudus could really be a game-changer for the right team.
The Football Insider report adds: “The Ghana international is not at the top of their [Liverpool] list of targets and they will prioritise other options before making a move.”
Kudus could be the player Liverpool need and the data suggests that with better players and a stronger tactical system to play in, the 24-year-old will explode into life.
Why Liverpool should sign Kudus
In 27 Premier League games, Kudus has three goals and two assists this season but he is a lot better than these figures suggest. And he might just be the playmaker that Liverpool need.
He attempts 7.37 take-ons per 90 which places him in the 97th percentile of all attacking players in Europe, according to FBref. Not only does he try to beat more players than pretty much anyone, his success rate is extremely high in the 98th percentile.
For every game he plays, Kudus beats his man 3.56 of the time on average.
There are certainly players in Europe with better numbers for goals and assists but Kudus is the type of player that just makes things happen even if he’s not necessarily the one playing the final pass or applying the finish.
