Liverpool are now close to reaching an agreement over the signing of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, according to an update from renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 21-year-old has been the Reds’ leading choice to strengthen their left-back position in recent months, following a standout campaign for the Cherries.

Kerkez appears to be an ideal fit for Liverpool, joining as a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson and potentially allowing Kostas Tsimikas to be sold.

Taking to X on Wednesday, Romano claimed that the Hungarian’s move to Anfield is now close to being sealed, in an exciting new update:

“Liverpool are prepared to seal Milos Kerkez deal with one more round of talks to get it over the line! Bournemouth and Liverpool are finalizing the agreement after personal terms in place last week. Here we go, soon.”

A perfect left-back signing for Liverpool

It has been such an eye-catching start to the summer for Liverpool, with Jeremie Frimpong already brought in from Bayer Leverkusen as a direct replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Kerkez coming in would be fantastic business by the Premier League champions, with Jamie Carragher lauding him earlier in the season, talking up a move to the Reds:

“Kerkez has been a revelation at Bournemouth.  The only reason why I mentioned Liverpool is the fact that, yes they’re probably looking for someone in that position, but the sporting director who brought him to Bournemouth, Richard Hughes, is now the sporting director at Liverpool. He’s aggressive, he’s got pace. Even when you look at him he looks like a full-back – really aggressive bombing up and down the left side.”

Robertson is a fighter and won’t want to give up his starting berth, but this does feel like a big moment in terms of Liverpool signing a new first-choice left-back.

Granted, Kerkez is still young and may show some rawness at times, but he possesses the energy that Robertson did in his younger years.

Having the pair battle for minutes feels like the ideal solution, allowing Tsimikas to move on after a solid spell at Liverpool, where he will hope to be a key player at another club.
