Liverpool are believed to be in “advanced talks” with Milos Kerkez over a move to the club, according to an exciting new update from journalist Matteo Moretto.
It has become clear throughout this season that an upgrade on Andy Robertson is needed for the Reds, with the Scot not quite the force of old.
At 31, he is no longer able to provide the same energy levels from left-back, although that’s not to say that he can’t continue to be a solid squad player.
Kerkez has emerged as the leading option for Liverpool to bring in this summer, following a superb season for Bournemouth that included a stunning crossed assist away to Tottenham.
Now, according to Moretto on X on Monday morning, the Reds are in “advanced talks” to sign the Hungarian, as they close in on his capture:
“Liverpool is moving forward with the signing of Milos Kerkez. There are contacts with Bournemouth, and negotiations between the parties could accelerate in the coming days. Milos Kerkez is in very advanced talks with Liverpool over contract terms.”
Frimpong and Kerkez a superb start to Liverpool’s summer
It looks like Kerkez will be joining Jeremie Frimpong at Liverpool imminently, in what represents a hugely promising start to the summer at Anfield.
The 21-year-old Bournemouth hero could be such an eye-catching purchase at left-back, with former teammate Mat Ryan once saying of him:
“Milos is a great boy. A crazy dude, in a good way. He is always positive and smiling. Hopefully he can develop even further in England and become even more mature. He is aggressive, powerful and has so many qualities. A unique skill set. Bournemouth is going to get stronger because of him. Milos still has a great career ahead of him.”
Kerkez has the potential to add so much quality, pace and directness down the left flank for Liverpool, linking effectively with the likes of Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo.
This season, the Hungary international has chipped in with two goals and five assists in the Premier League, and he should only get better as the years pass, especially playing alongside some world-class footballers.
