Liverpool have sent scouts to watch a Premier League player in action ahead of a potential summer move, according to a new claim from journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Reds look set to enjoy one of their busiest summers in a long time, with lots of money available for Arne Slot to spend on new signings.

There will also be current Liverpool players who leave, with Caoimhin Kelleher likely to enjoy a fresh challenge and Darwin Nunez expected to depart, for example.

According to Romano for Give Me Sport, the new Premier League champions are tracking Aston Villa ace Morgan Rogers, sending scouts to watch him in action “several times”.

A deal may be “difficult” to get over the line, however, as Villa look to keep hold of an important player, with Romano also adding:

“For sure, Chelsea and Liverpool both like Rogers and will keep monitoring his progress, then in the case of any surprise movements or potential exits, both clubs will be attentive this summer or in the future.”

Rogers could excel in a Liverpool shirt

This has been a breakthrough season for Rogers, who has been one of Villa’s standout players, registering eight goals and assists apiece in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has also broken into the England setup, winning three caps for his country, and Stiliyan Petrov has heaped praise on him, saying:

“He was a joy to watch. We talked about him before the game, what he offers to the Villa team, what he brings to the Villa team. He was just outstanding, we saw everything from the young man. He looked like a mature player.”
It is easy to see Rogers excelling for Liverpool, with the Englishman possessing a potent combination of technical quality and power, and his versatility allows him to shine in a central attacking role, as well as on either flank.
Villa are going to make it hard for the Reds to strike a deal, and his likely price tag could mean that other options should be looked at instead, but he could be a fantastic signing if an agreement is reached before next season gets underway.
