Darwin Nunez was the subject of serious transfer interest from Saudi Arabia in the winter transfer window and if he leaves, Alexander Isak is the player Liverpool should target if he leaves.
A very interesting conversation is developing around the Newcastle United striker, with many of the opinion that he deserves a move to a bigger club than the Magpies.
With 17 goals, Isak is the joint third-highest scoring player in the Premier League this season. Only Mohamed Salah (21) and Erling Haaland (19) have more.
Speaking on the Overlap, Carragher said he believes Isak would pick Liverpool over Arsenal if it came to it.
“There’s a lot of talk about Isak. There’s almost like this feeling of Arsenal are going to sign him or Arsenal need to sign him.
“Are you looking at it as an Arsenal fan and thinking that’s realistic that you can go and buy Isak from Newcastle? He’s got like three or four years on his contract.
“The reason I say that is because I think Liverpool are desperate for a centre-forward if I’m being totally honest. There’s no talk about Liverpool getting Isak. I don’t understand where all this Arsenal talk (has come from).
“Liverpool need one as well and If Liverpool win the league, if he was to go, surely you would pick the team that won the league.”

If Darwin Nunez or Diogo Jota leave, Liverpool must sign Isak
There is a realistic chance that Darwin Nunez leaves the club in the summer while Diogo Jota has also been linked with a move to Arsenal although there is a distinctly low chance of that happening.
If either leaves, however, Liverpool must take the chance to sign Isak.
Even if Mohamed Salah stays, the Reds will need someone to carry his mantle as the side’s talismanic goal scorer and at 25, he’s the perfect age to join the Reds.
In all competitions, Isak has 19 goals and five assists but it’s scary to imagine how many he could score when flanked by Salah and Luis Diaz or Cody Gakpo.
It would cost an arm and a leg, however, because Newcastle signed him for a club-record £63m and he still has three and half years left on his deal.
