Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past, and he is now reportedly back on their radar this summer.
The future of Curtis Jones is still up in the air, amid strong rumours of the 25-year-old completing a move to reigning Serie A champions Inter Milan.
Journalist Graeme Bailey recently provided a new update regarding the situation, saying that talks are ongoing between both parties:
“Inter Milan remain locked in negotiations with Liverpool over Curtis Jones, and the England international has already committed to joining the Serie A champions despite a valuation gap between the clubs. Sources have confirmed that Jones has accepted his time at Anfield is coming to an end and is ready to embark on a new challenge in Italy after deciding that a move to Inter represents the ideal next step in his career.”
According to a fresh update Tutto Juve, Liverpool are now potentially willing to replace Jones with Thuram, and could pay as much as £43.1m for his services.
Manchester United and Galatasaray are also believed to be in the mix to sign the Frenchman, with Juve’s financial woes possibly forcing them to sell him.
Khephren Thuram remains a strong midfield option for Liverpool
Thuram was seen as a leading midfield option for Liverpool back in 2023, but in the end, the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo joined instead.
The France international is still only 25, though, and remains an impressive option for the Reds, with Giovanni Martusciello heaping praise on him:
“Who do I like? Thuram, I think he’s extraordinary. Overall, they seem like a team that can have its say until the end. Then, to fight for the big goals, at least the ones they’ve always had in Turin, we need more time.”
Ideally, Liverpool would still arguably look to sign either Alex Scott or Adam Wharton this summer, given their Premier League experience, but Thuram would be a cheaper signing who could have as big an influence.
He possesses box-to-box dynamism, scoring and assisting three times apiece in Serie A last season, and also averaging 1.7 tackles per game in the competition.
