Liverpool are said to be in the battle to complete the signing of a player described as “one of Europe’s most pleasant surprises” in the recent past.

The Reds must get out of their current funk sooner rather than later, with few predicting such a dip in form at the start of the season.

Liverpool twice broke their transfer record by signing Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, and frankly, the level of the performances on show have been disappointing from the opening game of the campaing.

The Reds’ squad still feels light in certain areas, in particular centre-back, but they have also struggled in attack, with Wirtz and Isak taking time to adjust, and Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo struggling for form.

According to a new report from Africa Foot [via Sport Witness], Liverpool are “seriously positioning themselves” for Feyenoord forward Anis Hadj Moussa, with the likes of Benfica, Marseille, Sevilla and Nottingham Forest also mentioned as suitors.

Meanwhile, Maghreb Foot also claim that the 23-year-old’s agent is keen on an offer coming in from the Reds, no doubt wanting his player to be plying his trade at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Moussa is exciting long-term attacking star for Liverpool?

Moussa is an exciting attacking talent who could tick plenty of boxes for Liverpool, having been hailed by scout Jacek Kulig late last year:

“Signed from Belgium’s second division last summer, he’s gradually emerging as a key player for Feyenoord—one of Europe’s most pleasant surprises in recent weeks!”

Moussa has already bagged 23 goal contributions in 57 appearances for Feyenoord – 17 goals and six assists – as well as winning seven caps for Algeria, and he should only improve further at a club of Liverpool’s stature.

He is predominantly a right-sided attacking player, meaning he could be viewed as a long-term replacement for Salah, with the 33-year-old Reds legend showing signs of peaking so far this season.

That said, Moussa can also shine on the left flank, with his versatility something that Arne Slot may admire, so there is plenty to like about Liverpool adding him to their squad at the end of the season.
